Vier Musiker aus Wien, ihr charmanter Pop und ihre geheimnisvolle Nippon-Connection Tanakayama, vier Musiker aus Wien, kennen einander seit Jugendtagen. Über die Jahre arbeiteten sie in verschiedenen Bands und schlossen sich schließlich 2008 als Tanakayama auch musikalisch zusammen. 

Spuren des jahrelang gewachsenen Netzwerks sind in den Songs von Tanakayama hörbar: Ob Beatlesker Frohsinn oder offener, elegischer Indie-Rock, überall zeigt sich eine Lockerheit im Umgang mit Stilen, wie sie nur weltoffene, musikalisch versierte Menschen hervorbringen, die einander menschlich und künstlerisch gut kennen. Live führen Tanakayama ihr Rezept, das Fühlen, Wissen und Hören zu seinen Hauptzutaten zählt, eindrucksvoll vor: Hier spielen vier Musiker, scheinbar ohne Egos, dafür aber mit viel Gespür und Stil. 

Ach ja: Tanakayama singen auch japanisch. Doch die Japan-Referenzen definieren Tanakayama nicht - sie sind eine zusätzliche Facette, die der ohnehin vielfältigen Musik noch einen weiteren Raum der Möglichkeiten eröffnet und manchmal, wie ein verstecktes Level in einem Jump & Run-Spiel, neue Bedeutungen offenbart. Nur, dass Spielen hier Zuhören heißt.

About the band:

Four Musicians from Vienna, their charming Pop and their mysterious Nippon connection Tanakayama, four musicians from Vienna, have known each other since boyhood. Over the years they worked in various bands and finally got together as Tanakayama in 2008. 

Of course, traces of the network that grew over the years can be heard in Tanakayama's songs. From Beatles-like happiness to open, elegiac Indie-Rock, there is an ease throughout in the handling of styles which only cosmopolitan, musically experienced people who know each other well, both personally and artistically, can produce. Live, Tanakayama impressively demonstrate their recipe, whose main ingredients include feeling, knowledge and listening. Here you have four musicians playing, seemingly without egos, but instead with a great deal of intuition and style. 

Oh, by the way, Tanakayama sing in Japanese, too. But the references to Japan don't define Tanakayama – they are an additional facet, which opens a further range of possibilities to the already multifaceted music and sometimes, like a hidden level in a Jump & Run game, reveals new meanings. It's just that here, playing means listening.
